15. On the 14th instant, the coolies had still not returned to work. The Police adopted the same tactics as before, with the addition that all launches and chamers arriving from Macao were searched by the Police for arms, and there was a marked decrease in the number of serious assaults. At 8 am, two men who had been attacked in Found Lane and severely wounded in the head with swords, were removed to Hospital by the Police.
At 11.30 am, a man was attacked by some shop employees at West Point with a sword and very severely wounded, one hand being almost severed from the arm. One man was arrested at West Point for carrying a revolver without a license.
Several people were arrested during the day for disorderly conduct in the streets.

On the morning of the 16th day, I advised that a proclamation should be issued under Ordinance 15 of 1880 as I had reason to fear that a large quantity of arms had been imported from Macao and I desired to make a thorough search for them without the trouble and loss of time which would be necessitated by constant application to the Magistrates for search warrants.
